Day# 1
Subject: Introduction to Collaboration with Google Applications
Prerequisite Knowledge: Accessing a Google Account, basic manipulation of a Google document.
Content:

Day 1's workshop will cover an introduction to the week's topics, as well as the completion of a self-assessment on pre-existing knowledge the attendee has of using Google applications. In the second part of the session, attendees will learn how Google applications can facilitate collaboration between student and spend time developing lessons in which students will collaborate using Google software.
Objectives:

By the end of the day, teachers will

1. Assess their current knowledge of Google applications.
2. Understand how collaborative document writing works within Google documents.
3. Design a collaborative assignment for their classrooms using Google documents.
Teaching the Lesson:

1. The session will begin with begin with a brief introduction to the advanced Google applications used this week. This will be done via a presentation created in Google docs.
2. Teachers will then take a pre-assessment to determine prior knowledge of Google applications.
3. Teachers will next be introduced to the importance of facilitating student collaboration and how Google applications can facilitate collaboration.
4. In order to model collaboration, teachers will participate in a brainstorming activity using a Google doc. Teachers will contribute to the document via their laptop computers.
5. Using the list of activities developed during the brainstorm, teachers will then develop their own collaborative materials.
6. Teacher developed materials will then be shared with another attendee, who will model marking up and commenting on developed material, offering praise and suggestions for improvement.
7. Session will end with teachers participating in a daily evaluation form.
Additional Materials:

Prepared Materials for the day include
1. Introduction and Google Collaboration presentations to be used to teach content.
2. A Google form developed as a pre-assessment for the workshop.
3. Pre-made google documents used to explain processes, and for the Brainstorming activity.
Evaluation Strategies:

Teachers will post their finished assignments to the workshop wiki. There will also be informal assessments throughout as teachers interact through collaborative Google docs.
